The Village of Kurtakko

The genuine Lappish village with its fifty or so houses is located in the Tornio River Valley, in the municipality of Kolari. When you accommodate yourselves at Kurtakko, within a few tens of kilometres, youe the Ylläs ski resort and the renowned Tornionjoki - Muonionjoki rivers teeming with salmon.

At Kurtakko, we offer you products made from the pure, local raw materials and accommodation in the farmyard , cottageTupala or cottage Jouhentupa. You may familiarise yourselves with the everyday lives of the people of Kurtakko by visiting the vineyard, sheep farm Ylläksen Viini&Willa, or a working dairy Koivikko farm. Those wanting to go places may ask the local taxi firm. If you appreciate good food and products from lappish nature, we recommend Restaurant Ylläksen Pihvikeisari in Ylläsjärvi, which is about 15-20 minutes drive from Kurtakko.

A highlight of the summer is the trotting race on the village's own race course, attracting people and participants from near and far. The village has a two teacher school.

You will be able to get safely into the heart of Finland's greatest bog land, Teuravuoma from Kurtakko using the duckboards. The duckboard trail starts from the centre of the village. The trail has been laid to the village of Venejärvi and Teurajärvi.

Our doors are open throughout the year!

Welcome to Kurtakko Village
